Have you just bought a brand new mountain bike but don't know where or how to start? Are you bored of riding on concrete paths and want to take on more exciting undulating off-road trails?  Need to improve your bike handling skills so you will do better at the next mountain bike race? Joining an adventure race and want to learn how to go faster on the mountain biking section?

Look no further - we may just have what you are looking for! 

DirTraction regularly conducts bike clinics for both mountain biking and cycling in general. Its team of qualified and experienced coaches caters to all levels, beginner to advance. Below are the clinics currently available. Do email us if you wish to customise a special bike clinic or if you require any specific training to cater for your organisation, club or company.

1. Basic Mountain Biking Course (Level 1)

  • Bike Parts (know your bike, know how it works)
  • Bike Fitting (learn to ride comfortably, without back or neck aches or knee pains)
  • Climbing skill (how to go up slope effectively)
  • Descending skill (how to go down slope effectively)
  • Cornering (how to ride around a corner effectively)
  • Singletrack riding (how to ride in a narrow single track off-road path)
  • Pedal technique (how to pedal effectively)
  • Braking technique (how to brake effectively)
  • Mount / Dismounting (how to get on and off the bike properly)
  • Off Bike handling skills (how to conquer your fear and cycle off-road with a big smile)

Class size : Mininum 10 to start

Basic Criteria : You must be able to ride on a flat biking path e.g. East Coast Park cycle path. Basic fitness will help.

Price : 50SGD per person

Duration : Up to 4 hrs over one day

You will need to bring along :

  • Mountain Bike (if you need to rent a bike, please contact DirTraction for details)
  • Helmet (compulsory - for your own safety)
  • Gloves (recommended)
  • Covered shoes (recommended; sandals not recommended)
  • Bottles or hydration pack filled with water / isotonic liquids (hydration is important)
  • Snacks or other energy foods
  • Sunblock (recommended)
